To film in Thailand, a general film permit issued by Thailand Film Office is required.
In order to apply for a general filming permit, foreign filmmakers are required to hire a local coordinator (company or individual), who is officially registered with the Thailand Film Office. The coordinator represents the foreign filmmaker for obtaining the necessary permits. The coordinator submits the application form together with required supporting documents. The Digital Media Committee of Thailand Film Office will either approve and grand a permit, or will recommend changes in order to receive the general filming permit. Please note that the processing time varies from a minimum of 3 days for Music Videos, TV shows, TV commercials and Documentaries. To 10 days for Feature Films, Reality Shows, TV Dramas, Docudramas and Mini Series.
Film in Thailand partners with Bangkok Legal to handle all legalities and paperwork regarding film permits and accounting. Bangkok Legal’s representative is an officially licensed coordinator.
